General Summary:

The Inside Sales Representative is responsible for the sale of goods for wholesalers or manufacturers to businesses or groups of individuals. This position will require substantial knowledge of Astec products sold.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned, as requested or required.

• Answer customers’ questions about products, prices, availability and product uses
• Schedule work order meetings for all construction jobs to include confirmation of signed contracts and/or purchase orders
• Act as liaison between sales and accounting for customer invoicing issues
• Prepare and deliver equipment quotations / proposals to meet customer specifications with product availability, pricing, and order status
• Effectively present product offerings to customers
• Obtain freight quotes from multiple carriers
• Produce quotes for Sales Representatives
• Obtain quotes from outside vendors/contractors
• Calculate discount percentages
• Schedule work order meetings for all construction jobs to include confirmation of signed contracts and/or purchase orders
• Act as liaison between sales and accounting for customer invoicing issues
• Conduct plant tours during customer visits
• Provide complete information to facilitate order fulfillment
• Comply with all company and customer safety policies
• Participate in customer entertainment events as appropriate
• Willingness to drive and/or fly long distances

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or technical school preferred but not required with sufficient experience
• 3 or more years of experience in Sales/Customer Relations
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to gain acceptance of a product, service or idea
• Ability to effectively speak publicly and make presentations before groups
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills as well as math proficiency
• Ability to work well independently and as a team player while meeting the needs of internal and external customers
• Strong multitasking capability and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment
• Time management skills are critical for scheduling, meeting customer needs, and meeting deadlines
• Desire to be proactive and create a positive experience for others
• Understanding of import/export process for manufacturing equipment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, SharePoint, Quote Works & Act, and Visual Manufacturing

• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of injury in an office environment and occasionally a manufacturing shop plant environment.  Duties include a typical office setting including extensive computer work, sitting or standing.
